Voices from the Waters
An International Travelling Film Festival

Voices from the Waters is a non-commercial, non-competitive film festival that seeks not only to screen films but to spark dialogue, build networks, and inspire action. In its 12th edition, with the theme “The Future of Water. The Future of Life,” it places a vital question at the centre: What future is possible if we continue to exhaust and ignore the very element that sustains us? Through cinema, the festival becomes both a mirror and a map — reflecting the realities of climate change, dam-induced displacement, plastic-choked oceans, and drought-stricken lands, while also pointing to stories of indigenous wisdom, community resilience, and ecological renewal.

Staying true to its belief that cinema must travel, the festival carries these stories across both urban and rural spaces, using film as a tool of ecological justice, imagination, and connection. Over the years, it has grown into a collective space for filmmakers, environmentalists, youth, and citizens who trust in the quiet power of visual storytelling to shift perspectives and plant seeds of change. In this journey, Voices from the Waters reminds us of what is at stake, what remains possible, and why water — in its abundance and absence — must stay at the heart of any conversation about our shared future.
